Art therapy and healing with abstract painting can be very beneficial to anyone dealing with emotional issues including depression. Most painters and art students say the creation of art can be very emotionally healing to them, as the act of painting is calming and can be spiritually restorative. Sometimes, the simple act of creating something beautiful is enough to lift one’s spirits. The learning process itself can be quite uplifting and therapeutic, as the focus enables you to leave your daily cares or challenges behind, and simply be in the moment wth your paint, brushes, and canvas.
Clara Berta has been teaching art and leading art workshops for over nine years. “Although I do not yet have an art therapy degree, I do believe that Art as Healing is a very important aspect of my work. I offer different levels of classes for students of differing abilities and skill levels, including teenagers, who can be plagued today by competition, bullying, economic strive, family conflicts, and so many other issues. Learning to paint can not only help with psychological issues, but also give someone a renewed sense of confidence, as learning and developing new skills can revive and stimulate someone suffering from depression or sadness. I was once in a very dark place myself, having suffered several hardships and personal losses. Art saved me, brought me back to life, and gave me hope for a brighter future. It can do the same for you!”
“It is almost impossible to feel sad when you are painting, as once you take that brush in your hand, your attention shifts to your process. This is part of the art therapy, but also, when you finish your first painting, the joy you feel at your accomplishment can be life-changing. I always present a calming atmosphere and good energy in my Downtown Los Angeles studio. So, whether you aspire to be a professional artist, want to explore a new activity, or need to lift your spirits, come and experience an abstract art class with me!”
